Here is a list of all the amazing events happening on Canada Day:
Arnprior Lions Club Pancake Breakfast
Start your day off right with a delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausages, beans and of course, coffee and juice! The Lion’s Club will be having their annual pancake breakfast at the Nick Smith Centre from 8:00-11:00am. Breakfast cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children.
Optimist Bobby Legault Children’s Bike Parade
Bring your decorated bike to the Grace St. Andrew’s Church (269 John St North) parking lot for a chance to dazzle the judges before riding in a bike parade to Robert Simpson Park. Registration starts at 10:30am and the judging takes place at 11:30am. Be ready to leave for the park at 11:45am as the parade gets underway.
Interactive Historical Demonstration
The Arnprior & District Museum is open on Canada Day from 9:00am to 3:30pm with lots of exciting events happening throughout the day. Demonstrations begin around 10:00am with Tony Walsh - the returning Blacksmith Demonstrator, followed by Chuck Chapman- another returning re-enactor woodsman. We will also have a good visit with our 1923 International Fire Truck from about 11:00am-1:00pm, weather dependent.
Strawberry Social
Come down to the historic Galilee Centre (398 John Street North) to enjoy fresh local strawberries served over delicious cake from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. $10 per person, children 6 and under are free.
Rotary Duck Race
Supportthe Arnprior Rotary Club by purchasing your July 1st Mad Duck Race Ticket for $5.00 each. Proceeds go to support Arnprior Rotary projects, like our Tree Planting & Dictionaries4Life for all Grade 3 students. Race starts at the Madawaska Bridge at 2pm!
Canada Day Celebration
Join us at Robert Simpson Park from 11:00am-4:00pm for family activities, live music, carnival games, delicious food, face painting and more! Admission, games and face painting are all free! Main Street School of Music are set to perform at 1:00pm with Vagrant Kings hitting the stage at 2:00pm before The Fabulous Heartbeats at 3:00pm. Show off your skills in the Sand Castle Contest on the beach at 1:30pm. There will also be free parking at the Arnprior Hospital and a golf cart shuttle service for anyone needing assistance to Robert Simpson Park. Please note that parking at Robert Simpson Park will be restricted to those with accessible permits.
Fireworks Display
The always popular fireworks display will return to the island by the Madawaska Bridge with the show to start just after dusk. Plan for the first shot at 9:45pm but can change with sunset timing.
