The Council of the Corporation of the Town of Arnprior does hereby commit to recognizing September 30th, 2021, as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (National Orange Shirt Day) by sharing the stories of residential school survivors, their families, and communities.
The following presentations will be taking place and the public is invited to attend/register:
8:00 am - Raising of the Every Child Matters Flag at Town Hall, 105 Elgin Street West. Members of public are welcome to attend this outdoor event, practicing safe distancing. Attendees are encouraged to wear orange.
12:10pm to 1:10pm: Excerpts from the Russ Moses Residential School Memoir Presentation. John Moses, a member of the Delaware & Upper Mohawk bands from the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory near Brantford, ON., will be speaking about his father Russell Moses' childhood experiences in a residential school. 2:30 - 4:30 pm - The BIAK Mobile EarlyON Child and Family Centre will provide indigenous teachings, Algonquin language, drumming, singing and crafts for families and children. This presentation will take place at the Robert Simpson park gazebo and registration is required and attendees are encouraged to wear orange.
