Arnprior & District Museum welcomes a solo exhibit "Book on a Wall", from June 10- 28, 2025. This exhibition will include an artist residency June 10th to 13th and a free, public artist talk and collage workshop on June 14th, from 2-4 PM.
"Book on a Wall" is an iterative and site-specific installation delving into the childhood memories of the artist living with her father, who was committed to living an alternative lifestyle in the 1970s. Through interdisciplinary drawing, painting, mixed media, and sculptural elements, the artist explores themes of the lived experience of being a child exposed to communal living, anti-establishmentarianism, self-expression, free love, and mind-altering substances. One strong word is included in this exhibit.
This work uses sustainable and existing found materials and objects, mark-making, visual storytelling, and memory. An essential aspect of this exhibit is participatory workshops for people to engage in art-making and processes that can activate their points of access to personal stories and memories. These are designed to explore, release and share memory in a collective space through creative outputs. Join us!
